From Thomas Madden, the New Executive Director
It’s an honor to be called as the next leader of Lutheran Charities and build on its tremendous thirty-plus years of ministry in Western New York. Working with the Board of Directors, I look forward to what lies ahead as we address needs in today’s community as a called people of God.
I’ve been active in the church throughout my entire life, serving currently as vice-president of the Upstate New York Synod of the ELCA and as president of The Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word in Rochester. As a graduate of Valparaiso University I served recently as president of their Alumni Association, a member of the University Board of Directors, and currently as a member the University’s Strategic Planning Committee.
I had a long career as a Senior Scientist at Eastman Kodak specializing in digital imaging. Throughout my career, I always was drawn to engage in the ministry of the church in one way or another, and the opportunity to lead Lutheran Charities came as an answer to my prayers. I hope that my experience, depth of commitment, curious vision, and desire to engage congregations, agencies, and individuals will help further the ongoing mission of Lutheran Charities.
Lutheran Charities has a bright future! I look forward to working with you as we expand the Kingdom of God in Western New York in the days ahead.
