Welcome to Lutheran Charities of Western New York!

Welcome to the new website for Lutheran Charities of WNY!  It's great to have you back or here for the first time.

There have been a lot of changes at Lutheran Charities over the past few months, but here is one thing that hasn't changed: there are many needs in WNY that you and I can plug into through the 12 agencies that Lutheran Charities supports!

So, I want to invite you to page through the website, jump onto the sites of our agencies, see if there might be a place for you to serve in one of those great sites.  Or, maybe you are being called to support one or all of them financially?  You can give a tax deductable gift to these agencies through Lutheran Charities using the "Donate" button on the left side of the page.

If you're looking for information about the LC Freelance DIsciples, go to that page and find out where we are serving this month.

So thanks for visiting.  Email me with any questions or comments you might have as together we continue to answer the call:

if not us, who?  if not now, when?

Still in One Peace,
Steve Biegner, Executive Director

A Thank you from the August 2001 Freelance Disciples stop:

Dear Steve and the LCFD,

On behalf of the staff and students at St. Peter’s Lutheran School, I would like to say a special thank you for the wonderful supplies you helped collect for our school.  We appreciate the generous efforts of the Lutheran Charities Freelance Disciples group that coordinated this event.

With all of the items that were collected, my daughter and I enjoyed putting together a special box of teacher supplies for each of our staff members.  Extra items that we have will be used to give to children who are unable to purchase supplies that are needed this school year.  The teachers were very excited and pleased to see these items when they returned the first week in September.  Each person, specifically wanted me to express their gratitude to you.

I am proud to say that St. Peter’s is one of the oldest continuously running Christian Day Schools in the country.  This is our 168th year of existence.  At St. Peter’s, we believe in the importance of developing complete, well-rounded students.  We seek to prepare them spiritually, personally, and academically.  Teachers not only weave God’s Word into daily Bible lessons and weekly chapel services, but they teach Christian character values throughout the day.  Our students are given many opportunities to give back to their community and various charities by doing hands on service projects that show them the importance of loving their neighbors.

We appreciate the opportunity you have given us to show our students the wonderful work that other groups do as well.  We are very thankful for Lutheran Charities.  It is with this help that we are able to assist many of our own families that are in need.

May God continue to bless you, as you bless others.

Sincerely,
J. Michelle Scibetta
Principal of St. Peter's School
